El estudio de interiorismo Denys & von Arend ha reformado las suites del Hotel Balneario Vichy Catalán, ubicado en un edificio histórico de estilo neomudéjar en la villa termal de Caldes de Malavella (Girona).
Este establecimiento tiene el foco puesto en el bienestar de sus clientes a través de sus aguas termales, concepto que el equipo de Denys & von Arend ha reflejado en el diseño interior de sus suites premium.
“Más allá de un hotel con spa, hemos buscado reflejar en la intimidad de las estancias el poder reconstituyente y curativo de las aguas termales; el huésped se sorprende gratamente al dar con un balneario que presume de sus más de 125 años de historia y, a la vez, ofrece las comodidades de los hoteles del siglo XXI”, explican desde Denys & von Arend.
El agua es la protagonista del interiorismo
Las suites del hotel son un lugar donde sentir el agua, donde el ritual del baño sigue siendo el protagonista, pero en un ambiente privado.
Para lograr este efecto, se ha optado por una distribución abierta que aúna dormitorio y zona de aguas, con una maravillosa bañera exenta en el epicentro. Esta bañera queda reforzada por una pared curva que abraza al huésped y apoya la sensación de intimidad.
Para la creación de un espacio en calma, la paleta de materiales escogida por Denys & von Arend parte de una base muy neutra, en analogía con la pureza del agua. Las tonalidades desgastadas recuerdan la erosión de las superficies por el paso del agua y la cerámica vidriada evoca los reflejos propios del agua.
Por otra parte, el estilo neomudéjar del edificio, rico en cerámicas y geometrías, ha sido determinante para la utilización de materiales como la cerámica de barro, escogida por la belleza de sus formas naturales.
Todo ello, en contraste con la recuperación del color de la madera oscura, que se utilizaba antiguamente, en parte del mobiliario y con algunos elementos en negro, como las griferías, los mecanismos y algunos otros detalles.
The interior design studio Denys & von Arend has renovated the suites of the Hotel Balneario Vichy Catalán, located in a historic neomudéjar-style building in the thermal town of Caldes de Malavella (Girona).
This establishment focuses on the well-being of its guests through its thermal waters, a concept that the Denys & von Arend team has reflected in the interior design of its premium suites.
«Beyond being a spa hotel, we have sought to reflect in the intimacy of the rooms the restorative and healing power of thermal waters; guests are pleasantly surprised to discover a spa that boasts over 125 years of history and, at the same time, offers the comforts of 21st-century hotels,» explain Denys & von Arend.
The hotel suites are a place to experience water, where the ritual of bathing remains the focal point, but in a private setting.
To achieve this effect, an open layout has been chosen that combines the bedroom and water area, with a wonderful freestanding bathtub at the center. This bathtub is reinforced by a curved wall that embraces the guest and enhances the feeling of intimacy.
For the creation of a calm space, the materials palette chosen by Denys & von Arend starts from a very neutral base, in analogy with the purity of water. The worn tones recall the erosion of surfaces by the passage of water, and glazed ceramics evoke the reflections typical of water.
On the other hand, the neomudéjar style of the building, rich in ceramics and geometries, has been decisive for the use of materials such as clay ceramics, chosen for the beauty of their natural forms.
All of this is contrasted with the revival of the dark wood color, which was formerly used in part of the furniture, along with some elements in black, such as faucets, mechanisms, and other details.
