Cara y cruz para el puerto de Castellón / PortCastelló grows 2.7% in freight traffic in the year accumulated

El puerto de Castellón ha cerrado los primeros diez meses del año creciendo un 2,7% en tráfico de mercancías. Sin embargo, octubre refleja la tendencia a la baja al concluir con un 19% menos de tráfico respecto del mismo mes del año anterior.

Así, PortCastelló ha movido en el acumulado del año un total de 18 millones de toneladas. La mercancía que más crece es el granel sólido, un 6,8%, con un total de 8.160.839 toneladas. Le sigue el tráfico de granel líquido, con un 3,4% de incremento y 8.600.827 de toneladas movidas. Por último, se han movido 1.273.917 toneladas de mercancía general, lo que supone un 20,3% menos respecto del mismo periodo del año anterior.

El tráfico de contenedores continúa su tendencia a la baja en el puerto de Castellón, y desciende hasta octubre de este año un 48,1% respecto del mismo periodo de 2019, año pre-covid.

Por lo que respecta al mes de octubre mantiene su evolución a la baja registrada ya en septiembre en el puerto de Castellón, y cierra este mes con un 19% menos de tráfico de mercancías al contabilizar 1.605.503 toneladas. En concreto, la mercancía general es la que más desciende, un 52,2%, seguida del granel sólido, que baja un 43,9%. Por el contrario, se incrementa un 15,5% el tráfico de graneles líquidos.

Con estos datos, el granel líquido representa el 47,7% del tráfico en el puerto de Castellón, seguido del granel sólido, que supone un 45,2% del tráfico total, mientras que la mercancía general tiene un peso del 7,1%.

Las principales mercancías movidas en el puerto de Castellón en lo que va de año son petróleo crudo, feldespato, arcillas, gasolina, caolín y fuelóleo.

Los principales países con los que el puerto de Castellón mantiene relación comercial son, por este orden, Turquía, Canadá, Estados Unidos, Libia, Rumania e Italia.

El presidente de la Autoridad Portuaria de Castellón, Rafa Simó, ha señalado que «aunque estamos viviendo un segundo semestre discreto en PortCastelló en cuanto a tráficos, no debemos perder de vista que en lo que llevamos de año estamos en cifras por encima de las del año pasado, y de hecho, si seguimos esta tendencia podemos cerrar el año como uno los mejores de la historia del puerto de Castellón en cuanto a tráfico de mercancías».

The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rafa Simó, has pointed out that “although we are experiencing a discreet second semester in PortCastelló in terms of traffic, we must not lose sight of the fact that so far this year we have figures above those of the last year, and in fact, if we continue this trend we can close the year as one of the best in the history of the port of Castellón in terms of freight traffic.”
