La arquitecta china Xu Tiantian será una de las invitadas del ciclo de conferencias de Cersaie / Cersaie 40° discusses Xu Tiantian’s Chinese rural architecture

La arquitecta china Xu Tiantian, fundadora de la firma de diseño y arquitectura DnA con sede en Pekín, será protagonista destacada en la próxima edición del programa cultural Costruire, abitare, pensare de Cersaie 2023, con una conferencia que se llevará a cabo el miércoles 27 de septiembre a las 11.00 horas en el Palazzo dei recinto de BolognaFiere.
La feria congrega cada año a destacados arquitectos internacionales y, en esta ocasión, Xu Tiantian acaparará toda la atención de los profesionales del sector. Xu Tiantian, nacida en Fujian, China, en 1975, obtuvo su licenciatura en Arquitectura en la Universidad de Tsinghua en Pekín, donde actualmente imparte clases, y su Maestría en Arquitectura en Diseño Urbano en la Escuela de Graduados de Diseño de Harvard.
Xu Tiantian ha participado activamente en el proceso de revitalización rural en China. Su revolucionario enfoque Arquitectura Acupuntura es un enfoque holístico para la revitalización social y económica de las zonas rurales de China, y ha sido seleccionado por ONU-Hábitat como caso de estudio de Prácticas Inspiradoras sobre Vínculos Urbano-Rurales.
Su arquitectura va más allá de la mera construcción de edificios y también abarca el diseño social con el objetivo de maximizar los beneficios tanto para el lugar como para la comunidad. La cultura tradicional de construcción en las zonas rurales difiere significativamente de la de las áreas urbanas. Al integrar las comunidades con su entorno y considerar el contexto cultural y económico, la arquitectura se convierte en una herramienta fundamental para mejorar la vida agraria local en los pueblos.
Sus principales proyectos incluyen el Taller de Té Huiming, que muestra el proceso tradicional de producción de té Huiming, integrando la cultura local She con la cultura budista; el proyecto de transformación de las canteras de toba abandonadas en Jinyun en un espacio para eventos culturales; el antiguo puente en el pueblo de Shimen convertido en una plataforma de observación para el río Songyin y la presa de Wuyang.
Xu Tiantian ha recibido numerosos premios, como el Premio Arquitectónico Suizo en 2022, el Premio Global de Arquitectura Sostenible en 2023 y el Premio de Arte de Berlín / Kunstpreis Berlin - Arquitectura en 2023. En 2020, fue nombrada Miembro Honorario del Instituto Americano de Arquitectos.

The Chinese architect Xu Tiantian, founder of the DnA Design and Architecture Firm based in Beijing, will take centre stage at the upcoming edition of the cultural program “building, dwelling, thinking” (“costruire, abitare, pensare”) with a conference to be held on Wednesday, 27 September at 11.00 a.m. in the Palazzo dei Congressi of BolognaFiere during Cersaie.
The International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings, which is scheduled to be held in Bologna from 25 to 29 September, is renowned as the world’s most important event for ceramics, bathroom furnishings, architecture, design and urban planning.
Xu Tiantian, born in Fujian, China, in 1975, received her Baccalaureate in Architecture from Tsinghua University in Beijing – where she currently teaches – and her Master of Architecture in Urban Design from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
Xu Tiantian has engaged extensively in the rural revitalisation process in China. Her groundbreaking «Architectural Acupuncture» is a holistic approach to social and economic revitalisation of rural China and has been selected by UN Habitat as the case study of Inspiring Practice on Urban-Rural Linkages.
Her architecture extends beyond the mere construction of buildings and also encompasses social design aimed at maximising benefits for both the location and its people. The traditional building culture in rural areas differs significantly from that in urban areas. By integrating communities with their surroundings and considering the cultural and economic context, architecture becomes a fundamental tool for enhancing local agrarian life in villages.
Her main projects include the Huiming Tea Workshop, which showcases the traditional Huiming tea production process, integrating the local She culture with Buddhist culture; the project for transforming the abandoned tuff Quarries in Jinyun into a space for cultural events; the old bridge in the village of Shimen converted into a viewing platform for the Songyin river and the Wuyang dam.
Xu Tiantian has received numerous awards such as the Swiss Architectural Award in 2022, the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture in 2023 and the Berlin Art Prize / Kunstpreis Berlin - Architecture in 2023. In 2020, she was appointed an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
