PortCastelló registra un crecimiento del 102,65% en tráfico de mercancías en los últimos seis meses, al pasar de las 802.928 toneladas contabilizadas en noviembre del pasado año a las 1.624.541 en abril. “Por lo tanto, el puerto de Castellón multiplica por dos el tráfico en solo medio año”, ha destacado el presidente de la Autoridad Portuaria de Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez.

Además, Ibáñez ha señalado que el cierre de este pasado mes de abril es el mejor dato en movimiento de mercancías registrado en los últimos 12 meses. “Son cifras que reflejan una recuperación del tráfico portuario en nuestro puerto y se prevé que las cifras continúen al alza en los próximos meses”. Del mismo modo, ha manifestado que “estas cifras reflejan el trabajo emprendido hace meses en la búsqueda de nuevos mercados y la consolidación de tráficos actuales, un mix que estamos convencidos que en los próximos meses nos hará crecer todavía más”.

También hay que destacar que el puerto de Castellón cierra el primer cuatrimestre de este año creciendo un 55,01% en tráficos, y contabiliza en lo que va de año un total de 5.509.163 toneladas.

En este contexto de recuperación, el máximo responsable de la Autoridad Portuaria se ha referido a la “proyección de futuro y potencial de crecimiento” del puerto de Castellón con proyectos como la intermodal – que se licitará en breve – o la expansión de la dársena sur “un paso de gigante que diferencia al puerto de Castellón de otros puertos que tiene lastradas sus posibilidades de crecimiento por falta de espacio y que nos convertirá en el puerto del arco mediterráneo con mayor superficie disponible para la instalación de nuevas empresas, permitiendo atraer nuevos mercados”.

Asimismo, Rubén Ibáñez ha señalado también que “aunque nos encontramos inmersos en un momento de transición energética en el que apostamos por industrias renovables como la eólica marina, entre nuestros objetivos actuales está también el de intensificar las conexiones entre el continente europeo y africano, ya que se trata del recorrido habitual y contamos con todos los elementos que avalan su consolidación en este mercado”.

Crecimiento por tipo de mercancías y relación países

El granel sólido es que el registra un mejor comportamiento y, de hecho, crece en este cuatrimestre un 1,2% respecto del mismo periodo del anterior, y suma 2.243.140 toneladas. Ello es debido principalmente a los crecimientos de materias primas para el sector cerámico, como el feldespato -con un 10% más), o el tráfico de arcillas y caolín (que se incrementa en un 21,4%).

En cuanto a los países con los que el puerto de Castellón mantiene relación comercial destacan Turquía, Estados Unidos, Kazakstan, Brasil, Marruecos y Rumanía, países que se verán incrementados en los próximos meses con nuevos tráficos que potenciarán la mercancía general, por ser la materia con mayor potencial de crecimiento en el puerto.

He also stated that “these figures reflect the work started months ago in the search for new markets and the consolidation of current traffic, an approach that we are sure will help us grow even more in the coming months”.

It should also be noted that the port of Castellón closed the first four months of this year with a 55.01% growth in traffic, and has recorded a total of 5,509,163 tonnes so far this year.In this context of recovery, the head of the Port Authority referred to the “future vision and growth potential” of the port of Castellón with projects such as the intermodal transport system – which will be put out to tender shortly – or the expansion of the south dock “a giant step forward which differentiates the port of Castellón from other ports whose growth possibilities are hampered by lack of space and which will make us the port in the Mediterranean seaboard with the largest area available for the arrival of new companies, making it possible to attract new markets”.

Rubén Ibáñez also said that “although we are immersed in a time of energy transition in which we are committed to renewable industries such as offshore wind power, one of our current objectives is also to strengthen connections between Europe and Africa, as this is a standard route and we have all the elements to ensure its success in this market”.

Growth by type of freight and list of countries

Solid bulk is the best performer and, in fact, grew by 1.2% in this four-month period compared to the same period last year, totalling 2,243,140 tonnes. This is mainly due to the growth of raw materials for the ceramics sector, such as feldspar (up 10%), or the traffic of clays and kaolin (up 21.4%).As for the countries with which the port of Castellón has commercial relations, Turkey, the United States, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Morocco and Romania stand out, to be joined by more countries in the coming months with new traffic that will boost general cargo, as this is the area with the greatest potential for growth in the port.
