El proyecto pretende incrementar la producción conjunta de las fábricas hasta un 45% / The project aims to increase the combined production of the factories by up to 45%

Ya han comenzado las obras de la nueva fábrica de cartón ondulado del Grupo Saica en Barcelona, que entrará en funcionamiento en la primavera del año 2025.
Situada en el municipio de Sant Esteve Sesrovires, la planta combinará las operaciones que actualmente se llevan a cabo en Saica Pack El Prat y Saica Pack Barcelona. El nuevo proyecto supone una inversión de más de 100 millones de euros y pretende aumentar hasta un 45% la actual producción conjunta de las dos mencionadas fábricas. Desde la compañía enfatizan que «esta inversión subraya el compromiso a largo plazo del Grupo Saica con el mercado del packaging del sur de Europa y garantizará que Saica pueda apoyar los planes de crecimiento de sus clientes».
La nueva fábrica estará equipada con la última tecnología, combinando procesos de flexografía y offset. Asimismo ofrecerá avances significativos a través de la digitalización de los servicios al cliente, lo que permitirá a Saica «ofrecer los estándares de alta calidad y el servicio que la diferencian del mercado».
La empresa, especialista en soluciones de embalaje a base de papel reciclado, adquirió el terreno en el año 2010 y participó activamente en la urbanización del polígono industrial, que ahora ocupan importantes empresas. En 2018 también construyó e inauguró una nave de producto terminado en el polígono industrial.
El presidente del Grupo Saica, Ramón Alejandro, destaca que «esta inversión nos permitirá disponer de la última tecnología digital. Podremos aumentar nuestra capacidad de producción y también mejorar el servicio que damos a nuestros clientes».
Las instalaciones actuales de Barcelona y El Prat continuarán operativas hasta la apertura de la nueva fábrica. Posteriormente, trasladarán gradualmente su producción a las nuevas instalaciones. En este proceso de transición están involucrados los trabajadores de ambas plantas (194 y 100 trabajadores, respectivamente) y sus representantes.
Work has begun on Saica Group’s new corrugated board factory in Barcelona, which will start operating in the spring of 2025. Located in the municipality of Sant Esteve Sesrovires, the plant will combine the operations currently carried out at Saica Pack El Prat and Saica Pack Barcelona.

The new factory will be equipped with the latest technology, seamlessly combining flexography and offset processes. It will offer significant advances through the digitalisation of customer services, enabling Saica to deliver the high-quality standards and service that set them apart from the market.
The company, a specialist in packaging solutions based on recycled paper, acquired the land in 2010 and actively participated in the development of the industrial estate, which is now occupied by a number of major companies. In 2018, it also built and opened a finished product warehouse on the industrial estate.
Saica Group’s Chairman, Ramón Alejandro, stressed that «this investment will allow us to have the latest digital technology. We will be able to increase our production capacity and also improve the service we provide to our customers».The current facilities in Barcelona and El Prat will continue to operate until the new factory opens. Subsequently, they will gradually transfer their production to the new facility, ensuring seamless continuity of service. The workers at both plants (194 and 100 workers respectively) and their representatives are involved in this transition process, and all of them will be offered the opportunity to transfer.
