Mohawk Industries compra Vitromex por 293 millones de dólares / Mohawk Industries acquires Vitromex and expands in Mexico

Mohawk Industries ha anunciado esta semana que ha rubricado un acuerdo de adquisición del segmento de baldosas cerámicas de Vitromex, del Grupo Industrial Saltillo (GIS) por aproximadamente 293 millones de dólares.

El cierre de la transacción se espera para el segundo semestre de 2022 y está sujeto a la aprobación de los accionistas de GIS, así como a las aprobaciones gubernamentales y condiciones de cierre habituales.

Vitromex fue fundada en 1967 e incluye cuatro instalaciones de fabricación ubicadas de manera estratégica en todo México. Al combinar con las operaciones mexicanas actuales de Mohawk, la presencia expandida aumentará la clientela, la eficacia de fabricación y las capacidades logísticas de la empresa. Vitromex desarrolló una posición de liderazgo en el mercado mexicano de baldosas cerámicas de $ 1.7 mil millones (2.9 mil millones de pies cuadrados) con una amplia red de distribución y una oferta de productos que incluye cerámica esmaltada, porcelana, mosaicos y azulejos decorativos. En 2021, Vitromex generó ingresos de aproximadamente $ 204 millones.

En un comentario sobre la adquisición, Jeffrey S. Lorberbaum, presidente y director ejecutivo de Mohawk, afirmó: “En la última década, aumentamos de forma significativa nuestra participación en el mercado mexicano de baldosas cerámicas, incluyendo el desarrollo de una organización de talla mundial y la construcción de una instalación de vanguardia en Salamanca. Mohawk Industries, Inc. (NYSE: MHK) announced today that it has entered into an agreement to purchase the Vitromex ceramic tile business from Grupo Industrial Saltillo (GIS) for approximately $293 million in cash. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2022 and is subject to the approval of GIS’s shareholders, as well as customary government approvals and closing conditions. The Vitromex business is expected to be accretive to Mohawk’s earnings.

Vitromex was founded in 1967 and includes four manufacturing facilities strategically located throughout Mexico. When combined with Mohawk’s current Mexican operations, this expanded footprint will enhance the Company’s customer base, manufacturing efficiencies and logistical capabilities. Vitromex has built a leading position in the $1.7 billion (2.9 billion square feet) Mexican ceramic tile market with a broad distribution network and a product offering that includes glazed ceramic, porcelain, mosaics and decorative tiles. In 2021, Vitromex generated revenues of approximately $204 million.

In commenting on the acquisition, Jeffrey S. Lorberbaum, Mohawk’s chairman and CEO, stated, “In the past decade, we have significantly increased our participation in the Mexican ceramic tile market, including developing a world-class organization and constructing a state-of-the-art facility in Salamanca.
